Dubai Musings
I am presently in Dubai for last 2 months now. And my blog had been dormant for sometime now. So here some travel notes for you all, at last.
Dubai is an Middle-East city and a booming place in the UAE. Its a regional hub with couple of busy ports. My visit here is for implementing some Lotus-based applications which are also concerned with these Ports.
The place is a desert city, but I am lucky to be traveling in the winter season and the weather is good. I also witness a desert rain (this phenomenon had occurred after some 3yrs gap in this region), wherein some-reports of hailstorm were also highlighted.
In the last decade and a half Dubai had transfromed with lots of Modern Architectures, but you can still find the primitive lifestyle on the city outskirts. Toursists also enjoys Desert Safaris, to taste the Sand Dunes, Camel Rides, but the city itself has some breath-taking views of structures built for a new age taste. The city itself has a huge populace of of emigrantes from various countries of Asia, Europe and far, which outnumbers the locals. This has brought a huge and wonderful mix of cultures, languages, and prefrences. So one can easily notice the extremes here.
There are lots of new projects currently in making and onces they are completed would surely put Dubai on the world attraction. Of these the Dubai Palm Islands are the most ambitious of all. These are the Atlantis cities of our age.
